Celebrating a Strong Partnership: Cokebusters and the Energy Industries Council

17 April 2025

At Cokebusters, we take immense pride in the relationships we build – not only with our clients across the globe, but also with the institutions that champion innovation, growth and collaboration within the energy sector. One such institution that has played a pivotal role in our journey in recent years is the Energy Industries Council (EIC).

We are therefore delighted to share the news that our Managing Director, James Phipps, has been appointed as a non-executive board member of the EIC. This appointment marks an exciting new chapter in our ongoing relationship with the Council and reflects the shared values of technical excellence, industry leadership and a commitment to sustainable growth.

Recognising Shared Success

In 2023, Cokebusters was honoured to receive the ‘Company of the Year’ award at the EIC’s annual awards ceremony, which was a rather unexpected surprise!  This achievement not only celebrated our operational milestones, but importantly recognised the work of our dedicated team across the UK, USA and internationally. The award was a testament to our technical expertise in mechanical cleaning and tube inspection services, as well as our commitment to safety, reliability and continuous innovation.

In that same year Cokebusters was honoured to be chosen as the 2023 Survive & Thrive Regional Winners for Innovation and Diversification at the EIC Middle East Awards, recognising the unique work done at the Miraah Solar Steam Plant.

In August 2024, Cokebusters USA was shortlisted in the Culture & Innovation and Service & Solutions categories for the EIC Regional Award for North & Central America.  Whilst our Houston team didn’t win these particular awards, they very much enjoyed the EIC Connect Energy USA conference where they were able to further build on the company’s close relationship with the Council.

The support and visibility provided by the EIC have been instrumental in helping us reach new markets and forge meaningful partnerships. From business development opportunities to thought leadership and global networking, the EIC has consistently delivered value that aligns with our goals as a growing SME in the energy services space.

Strengthening Industry Voices

James Phipps’ appointment to the EIC board further reinforces our belief in the power of industry collaboration. As a non-executive board member, James brings a wealth of international field experience, a deep understanding of operations and a passion for engineering-driven problem-solving. He looks forward to contributing to the EIC’s mission to empower UK energy companies in accessing global opportunities.

Cokebusters is committed to supporting the energy industry as it transitions towards renewables

The EIC has been a great supporter of Cokebusters as we’ve grown from a small British business into a global player,” says James. “It’s a privilege to be part of an organisation that champions British expertise on the world stage and I’m excited to help shape the future direction of the Council.

Looking Ahead

As we continue to invest in people, technology and sustainable practices, Cokebusters remains committed to playing an active role within the wider energy community. Our collaboration with the EIC is an important part of that mission and we are proud to see it deepen through shared ideas.

We would like to extend our congratulations to the other two newly appointed board members and express our gratitude to the EIC for their ongoing support and recognition.

CEO of the EIC Stuart R Broadley HonFEI said “their collective experience in engineering, operations and leadership as key to advancing EIC’s mission will support EIC’s strategic objectives of helping energy supply chain businesses to export and diversify their products and services while also growing their overall operations.
