UT Helix Smart Pigs

The UT Smart Pig is a single-bodied, untethered ultrasonic smart pig propelled by liquid flow, either supplied by Cokebusters’ Double Pumping Units or controlled by the facility’s own product flow where appropriate.

Water also serves as the coupling medium for ultrasonic wave transmission, using a Pulse-Echo UT inspection method. The tool houses an array of 5 MHz ultrasonic probes arranged circumferentially in two interleaved rows, maximising internal surface coverage and data density.

Its battery-powered design enables reliable smart pig UT inspection through tight bends, diameter changes and restricted access points, while maintaining consistent data acquisition across the full length of the asset.

The same technology can be deployed across tubes, pipes and pipelines, providing a versatile UT smart pig inspection solution for a wide range of applications.
